Animal reintroduction

Wilhelma also participates in several projects for reintroducing animals into the wild again. And so alpine ibexes from Wilhelma are now living in the wild in the Rauris Valley in Austria, Wilhelma capercaillies inhabit the Black Forest anew and Wilhelma Przewalski's wild horses are living wild in Mongolia. This, too, is a contribution to the conservation of the species. It is, however, only possible to reintroduce animals born in zoos into the wild if the habitat offers them enough to eat and protection from poaching.
