
Directions & Parking
Wilhelma is easy to reach both by public transportation and by car. Along the main roads within the city limits you can follow the signs showing an elephant symbol to Wilhelma. You will find the main entrance on Neckartalstraße (streetcar stop "Wilhelma").
The side entrances are located at Rosensteinpark (access via Rosensteinpark / underground station ‘Rosensteinpark’ or S-Bahn station “Nordbahnhof”) and on Pragstraße opposite the Mahle multi-storey car park (underground station ‘Glockenstraße’). Please note the operating hours at the side entrances.
Arrival by bus and streetcar
Streetcar line U 13, U 14, U 16:
stop "Wilhelma" in front of the main entrance (about 8 minutes from Stuttgart main station to Wilhelma)
Streetcar line U 13, U 16:
stop "Rosensteinbrücke" (250 meters to the main entrance)
Bus lines 52 and 56:
stop "Rosensteinbrücke" (250 meters to the main entrance)
Suburban train lines 1, 2 and 3:
stop "Bahnhof Bad Cannstatt" (approx. 1 km to the main entrance)
Suburban train lines 4, 5 and 6:
stop "Stuttgart Nord" (destination: side entrance at Rosensteinpark).
From Nordbahnhof it is a walk of about 850 meters through Rosensteinpark to the Wilhelma side entrance at the Rosensteinpark. Please note the opening hours.

VVS bonus
From 1 March to 31 October, anyone travelling with a VVS day ticket will receive a bonus on admission at the normal rate: adults 1 euro, schoolchildren and students (18 - 28 years), children (6 - 17 years) 0.50 euro.
The discount can only be granted directly at the ticket office
Arrival by car
On main roads within the city limits, signs showing an elephant symbol point in the direction of Wilhelma.
- A 81 from Heilbronn/ Würzburg
Leave the A 81 at the Zuffenhausen exit (No. 17) and follow the B 10 and Neckartalstraße until you reach Wilhelma. - A 8 from Ulm / München
Leave the A8 at the Wendlingen exit (Nr. 55) and follow the B 313 (from Plochingen B 10) towards Stuttgart until you reach Wilhelma. - A 81 from Singen
From the Stuttgart autobahn interchange (No. 20), follow the A 831/B 14 through downtown Stuttgart until you reach Wilhelma. - A 8 from Karlsruhe
Leave the A 8 at the Stuttgart-Vaihingen exit (No. 51), follow the A 831/B 14 through downtown Stuttgart until you reach Wilhelma.
Low emission zone and diesel traffic ban
If you are coming from out of town, please note that Wilhelma is located within Stuttgart's Low Emission Zone, in which only vehicles classified as belonging to Emission Category 4 (green sticker) are allowed. There are also traffic bans for older diesel vehicles. You can find more information on the website of the city of Stuttgart.
If you are affected by the diesel traffic ban, we recommend using Park+Ride spaces outside the Low Emission Zone. You can find an overview at VVS public transport association.
Parking near Wilhelma
Wilhelma parking garage
- Wilhelma's parking garage is located on Neckartalstraße close to the main entrance.
- The parking garage is open day and night.
- Vehicles up to a maximum height of two meters can be parked there.
- The parking garage has 800 parking spaces. Eight of these spaces on parking deck 3 (at ground level) are reserved for wheelchair users and people with disabilities.
- Parking fees: The parking fee is 8 euros per day. Parking for up to 3 hours costs 5 euros. The amount can be paid at the end of the visit at the machines in the car park.
Alternate parking spaces
If the Wilhelma parking garage is fully occupied, you can use various parking garages in the surrounding area:
- 190 parking spaces
- Four hours maximum parking time
- Entry via Überkinger Straße
- About 700 meters walking distance to Wilhelma along the Neckar River.
- 80 parking spaces
- Entry via Badstraße
- About 750 meters walking distance to Wilhelma through Badstraße.
- 360 parking spaces
- Entry via Eisenbahnstraße
- About 950 Meter meters walk through old town Bad Cannstatt to Wilhelma
- Only if required at weekends and on public holidays
- Entrance via Haldenstraße
- Approx. 150 metres walk to the side entrance on Pragstraße, which is only open as required at weekends, on public holidays and during school holidays
- Approx. 850 metres on foot to the main entrance
- Parking fees: 8 euros flat rate, cash only, no card payment possible
Parking for busses
A bus parking lot with limited parking spaces is located opposite the Wilhelma parking garage, just a few meters from the main entrance. If the Wilhelma is your destination, busses can be parked there free of charge.
A paid bus parking area is also located at the Cannstatter Wasen. From there, you can reach Wilhelma by walking along the Neckar River over the Rosensteinbrücke (about 1.2 kilometers). Please note that the parking spaces at the Wasen are not always available due to major events. A list of all parking spaces for busses can be downloaded from Stuttgart Tourist.
